The wider angle version of the quattro camera line-up has been announced by Sigma. The “SIGMA dp1 Quattro” incorporates a 19mm F2.8 (equivalent to a 28mm lens on a 35mm SLR) high performance wide angle lens, which is optimized for the Quattro sensor. Maximising the sensor performance, not only around the focusing point, but also at other areas in the image. Availability is foreseen somewhere in October.
LCD Viewfinder LVF-01
With the dp1 Quattro Sigma also released a few new accessories. The viewfinder VF-31, a camera bag CB-31 and most importantly the LCD viewfinder LVF-01. Attaching the LCD display to the dp Quattro cameras, the LCD viewfinder cuts off outside light. It magnifies the LCD display 2.5 times and allows photographers to check the focus more easily. It is exclusively designed for the Quattro series and achieves clear visibility by incorporating a high performance lens and coating. Similar to the viewfinder of a DSLR, it is possible to hold it stably, thus reducing camera shake, and look at the detail of the image. Its diopter adjustment range is from -2 to +1.
Sigma also announced some new lenses and teleconverters just in time for Photokina 2014. In the contemporary line Sigma announced two lenses, SIGMA 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM Contemporary & the SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary. Slightly confusing Sigma also introduced a lens with the same name as the last but in the line of sports lenses. Although the names are similar they are two distinctively different lenses. The Sports version has more lens elements is longer and heavier. The Contemporary one is more compact & lighter making it a more comfortable lens to use without sacrificing much quality. Lastly they also updated their 1.4 & 2.0 teleconverters bringing AF capability up to F8 with compatible cameras.
