The new full-frame Sigma camera is coming… But unfortunately not before the end of this year. At the CP+ show in Japan Sigma’s CEO, Kazuto Yamaki announced that the camera is now planned for release in2020.
There is good news too though. The camera will feature a 20.3MP full-frame 1:1:1 Foveon sensor (3 layers of 20MP each). A departure from the current Quattro sensors back to layer construction used in the original Foveon sensors.
Sigma L-mount lens roadmap
At the same stage event Sigma also showed a roadmap for their L-mount lenses. They are planned to be available in the second half of 2019. With the first lenses arriving around August-September. And availability for all announced by the end of the year. Early 2020 will see the release of 3 DC (APS-C compatible) primes for the L-mount. *editors note/speculation; is Sigma also planning on developing a L-mount APS-C Foveon camera? Exciting times ahead 🙂
