Just one day before the Japanese camera & photo imaging show CP+ 2011, Sigma corporation announced an impressive list of four new and interesting lenses.
Most notable is the inclusion of both OS (optical stabilization) and HSM on three of them. Sigma’s own proprietary OS (Optical Stabilizer) system offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than otherwise would be possible, enabling hand held (tele-)photography. The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet and high speed autofocus while allowing full-time manual focus override.
Another interesting tidbit is that, except for the 50-150, the lenses feature a splash proof design for use in harsh conditions. This will make them perfect companions to the weather-resistant designed Sigma SD1.
The list includes the following new lenses:
- SIGMA 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 II DG HSM
- SIGMA MACRO 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM
- SIGMA APO 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM
- SIGMA APO 120-300mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM
