Today Sigma has announced the availability of a new firmware version for the DP3 Merrill and an update to SPP.
Firmware version 1.01 for the DP3 Merrill brings compatibility with Sigma’s Macro Flash EM-140 DG SA-STTL. (52mm Macro Flash Adapter is sold separately). It also corrects the phenomenon that the shutter speed value in the display is not stable when there is an object with high brightness in the image.

Sigma Photo Pro 5.5.1
At the same an update to Sigma Photo Pro saw its release. This release is mainly corrects some bugs that were introduced with version 5.5. According to Sigma the points below have been improved or solved.
SIGMA Photo Pro 5.5.1 for Windows
- Offers improved stability of the software performance.
- Adds the lens information of 30mm F1.4 DC HSM.
- Corrects the phenomenon that banding noise is found if the output image size is set at x2 to save the image after using the film grain function in the monochrome process.
- Corrects the phenomenon that streaky noise is occasionally seen in a part of the image.
- Corrects the phenomenon that it occasionally freezes after deleting an image in the review window.
- Corrects the phenomenon that the image displayed in the monochrome process shows different colors from the image saved.
- Corrects the phenomenon that the information in the “Image Information Window” is not updated when it switches from color to monochrome or vice versa.
- Corrects the phenomenon that extracting JPEG data occasionally does not reflect the flag mark of the X3F files.

I was ready to buy an SD1 until I downloaded the six raw files and the Sigma Software. I can put out with an slow camera, no live view…….., but I can not put out with the delay of the Sigma pro while working with the photos. 13 seconds for white balance it is not acceptable and that is using a very fast computer. So, until Sigma brings Adobe on board, I will be using my old SD14 and either a Pentax, or a Nikon I will buying next month.
